The Rio Grande Valley is one of the most Hispanic regions in the country and one of the most Spanish-speaking — four counties along the river where Spanish is the language of home, work, and church, and where family sits at the center of everything. It is also a region that has long been under-served for mental-health care, and dramatically so for private-pay therapy in Spanish. The need is enormous and the number of Spanish-speaking therapists with an opening is small. That mismatch is why so many people in the Valley who are quietly struggling never get to talk to anyone. Two things keep people from care here, and online therapy answers both. The first is distance and time — the Valley is spread out, and adding a long drive to an already full life makes weekly therapy impossible for most working families. Meeting by video removes the drive entirely. The second is privacy. In tight-knit towns, the fear is often less about talking and more about being seen doing it — a car outside a counselor's office, a familiar face in the waiting room. Online, you do this from your own home, and no one has to know. I'm from the border myself, further up the river in Laredo, so the Valley isn't a market I'm reaching into from far away — it's the same South Texas world I grew up in: the language, the _familismo_, the _qué dirán_, the strength and the exhaustion of the women who hold everyone together. We work on low self-esteem, anxiety, grief that never got its turn, a past that still surfaces, and burnout. I draw on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and a holistic, client-centered approach — at your pace, and you decide what we touch and when.
